Verbatim Secures Mobile Corporate Data

January 11th, 2007: Verbatim has rolled out a new range of USB flash drives featuring, you guessed it, much bigger capacities. Along with more space though, the company is also touting a new range of drives aimed specifically at corporate users.

Verbatim has blown out the capacity of its line of USB drives, showing off its 8GB and 12GB models at this week’s CES in Las Vegas.

Of course greater capacity also means greater potential for more data to go missing, so the company has included password security in its new 8GB Store ‘n’ Go flash drive.

Store ‘n’ Go Pro flash drives have also had capacity ramped up to 4GB while retaining maximum write speeds of 14MB/s and maximum read speeds of 24MB/s. The pro version also includes 256-bit AES hardware data encryption for extra security.

For corporate users, however, Verbatim has released a new line of Store ‘n’ Go Corporate Secure USB drives with 1, 2 and 4GB of storage space. Based on the Pro line of flash drives, the Corporate Secure drive features mandatory safeguards to protect content, including a complex password which will lock the device after 10 failed attempts, effectively removing the possibility of dictionary or brute for hacking attempts.

Verbatim claims that these mandatory security measures make these drives ideal for mass deployment by government agencies, corporations and private enterprises. Especially considering the drives are also capable of being centrally managed by corporate IT department using mTrust security software.
