Iomega Rolls Out Terabyte NAS For SMBs

January 25th, 2007: Iomega has just released its latest centralised storage offering for SMBs, with a terabyte worth of networked storage and data protection.

Iomega claims that the StorCenter Pro NAS 150d is the industry’s first 1TB device that features hot swappable drives, at least for under USD$800 (AUD$1000). The device comes with four 250GB SATA II hard drives, and should 1TB be too little a 2TB model with four 500GB SATA II drives is also available.

While hot-swappable drives may not be spectacularly high on the features hit list for SMBs, the StorCenter does include important features such as a Gigabit Ethernet port, RAID 0, 1, and 5 and the ability to double as a print server. Up to four printers are support and can be connected via USB 2.0. For backup and recovery, Iomega have also thrown in five-client licenses for EMC Retrospect Express.

The StorCenter Pro NAS 150d 1TB and 2TB Server supports Windows Vista/2000/XP, Mac OSX 10.2.7 and Linux and is priced at USD$799 and USD$1,499 respectively.
