Month Date, 2006: Disappointment in the financial results, but some significant operating highlights for DICOM Group in the first quarter.

DICOM sealed the start to the financial year with the launch of its Document Scan Server. A product picked up by the Boy Scouts of America (BSW) and recognised as a trend-setter by a US industry magazine. Other significant organisations to pick up the product included Australia Bank, Los Angeles Police Dept, Swedish medical Center, Deutsche BP and Compania Mexicana.

For the first quarter ended 30 September 2006, DICOM results similar to last year that expressed “the usual season weakness in the first quarter.” Although down, DICOM expects it recent customer acquisitions are significantly ahead of last year.

Rob Klatell, chief executive officer of DICOM Group, talked up the opportunities ahead and the expected results. “As anticipated at the announcement of our year end results, we experienced the usual seasonal weaknesses in the first quarter following a very strong close to our last financial year.”

Klatell suggested DICOM’s customer wins were the highlight to the quarter. Particuarly the contract with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), who picked up the product to assist councils nationwide in streamlining their application forms processing. “The BSA has more then 3 million members spread across 300 councils around the US,” said Klatell.

“In order to reduce the amount of time spent manually inputting data during the application process, BSA implemented the Kofax Document Scan Server and Ascent Capture technology to scan enable its existing Program Application System.” DICOM says the new technology will allow handwritten data from application forms to be captured and delivered in to the BSA database.

“Looking ahead, we believe that our strong sales pipeline, planned new product introductions and market lead position, combined with our partners and customers, will enable greater opportunity for top line growth,” said Klatell.
