Epicor Hits Aged Care Market

November 10, 2006: Church Resources, a non-profit purchasing organisation, has signed with Epicor for content management solutions tailored for the aged care sector.

The Easy Aged Care Solution is integrated with the national eHealth initiative and offers a single point of entry for all business and resident management information. It’s an integrated content management system dealing with financial, resident, client and clinical care management.

Fr Michael Kelly, executive director of Church Resources says the new solution will benefit nursing staff by minimising the time spent on processing. “I believe non-profits should be excited about what the ICT sector can offer,” he said. “But there is an increasing digital divide within this sector.”

The goal is to reduce time spent on administration and allow more time for staff to tend to nursing duties. The key is to minimise data and input and retrieval, workload that often swamps healthcare stuff through the constant need to re-key information. The solution also offers the sharing of information electronically to the Department of Health and Ageing through Medicare Australia.

The Honourable Tony Abbott MP, Minister for Health and Ageing, launched the Easy Aged Care Solution at an industry event in Sydney this week. He admitted to a limited knowledge of IT but said the solution would suit the increasing needs of the aged care sector. “What’s being done here is very encouraging,” he said. “I’ve always said that healthcare professionals are marvellous.”

Church Resources originated with a focus on Catholic organisations, but now extends its services to all non-profit organisations. The charity trust seeks to maximise the purchasing power of power or non-profit organisations – especially in the IT sector. With over 10,000 actively purchasing member organisations in the non-profit market, Epicor’s partnership with Church Resources could prove to be an extremely valuable relationship
