Verbatim Release Double Sided DVD+R Disc
Verbatim Release 2.6 GB Storage Disc
July 4th, 2006: Verbatim have released a new double sided DVD+R disc for camcorders. With a storage capacity of 2.6 GB, significantly more then what is currently available.
Available in five-packs from July when the first new mini +R DL-compatible camcorders are launched. Measuring 8cm in diameter the DL discs provide nearly one hour continuous record time on a single side, and will feature broad playback support with recorded videos and photos easy to share and view on either TV or computer.
According to Alan Kleeman, Verbatim Product Marketing Manager, “DVD camcorder users want longer recording times, when consumers use the standard mode they can only record about 30 minutes of video on the current mini DVD discs. Our new Mini DL disc allows them to record nearly one hour as a continuous recording on a single piece of high quality media”.
The media is compatible with most current DVD players and DVD ROM drives and is fully compatible with the DVD+R DL standard endorsed by the DVD+RW Alliance. The discs also carry Verbatim’s hardcoat scratch guard technology making the disc 40 times more resistant to damage. Pricing is yet to be announced.
