Avocent Offer New Server Management Solution

July 31st, 2006: Avocent claims its new MergePoint 5200 management gateway appliance successfully taps existing resources to securely and efficiently consolidates server management.

The solution uses service processors to manage servers, giving system administrators critical management functionality, including Power Control, Serial over LAN (SoL) console access, monitoring and alerting, all through a single interface. With support for the standards-based command line technology known as Systems Management Architecture for Server Hardware Command Line Protocol (SMASH CLP) along with a centrally managed interface, the MergePoint 5200 simplifies server manageability claims Avocent.
