Winchester Shoots Out New Storage

June 30th, 2006: Venerable storage maker, Winchester, launches its latest SCSI-based RAID array.

According to Winchester, "The SF-2300 features market leading performance. It supports up to 780 MBs per second sustained for reads and 536 MBs per second writes in a RAID 5 configuration. With twelve 15K rpm SAS disks and up to 3.6-terabytes available in a single 2U enclosure, our customers can use the SF-2300 for any application requiring high transaction rates such as database, OLTP, manufacturing, financial or high performance computing (HPC). There is also support for high throughput sequential applications such as video imaging, multimedia, disk-to-disk backup and industrial-strength web services".

FlashDisk SF-2300 supports single or redundant 64-bit RAID controllers with up to four 4 Gb Fibre Channel host ports without using a switch, and has high availability features including the new FlashDisk Enterprise RAID 6 protection. The SF-2300 implements RAID 6 in hardware using dual custom ASICs enabling it to maintain a near level RAID 5 performance with RAID 6 protection against multiple drive failures. It supports all other RAID modes, and additional high availability features include fully redundant data paths and redundant hot swappable drives, cooling, power supplies, and BBUs.

Every FlashDisk data storage solution includes the FlashConsole appliance, providing complete centralized management using any browser-based workstation on the LAN. FlashAlert, a 24-hour "call-home" remote monitoring and alert service is also included for one year.
