Global Security Standard Assurance For ANZ

January 31st, 2006: SAI Global announces certified training for organisations seeking to make use of the latest ISO for Security Management Systems in Australia and New Zealand.

In the same week as US-based ChoicePoint has been fined US$15-million for simple-minded security breaches that lead to the nearly 1,000 cases of identity theft from its records, SAI Global announces its accreditation to train organisations in the International Standards Organisation's, ISO/IEC 27001 "Information Security Management Systems (ISMS)".

The standard, which came into force in October 2005, is designed to help ensure the selection of security controls for information assets such as customer lists, databases, billing information, banking details and audit records.

According to the International Standards Organisation: "Up to now, organizations that wished to have their ISMS certified have done so in conformity with the British Standard BS 7799 Part 2. This is now possible against ISO/IEC 27001:2005, which is an International Standard."
