Pointsec certified for tour of duty

Nov 1, 2005: Pointsec Mobile Technologies, provider of the de facto standard for enterprise security software for laptop and desktop PCs, PDAs and smartphones, has announced that its flagship product, Pointsec for PC, has been approved by the Defence Signals Directorate (DSD) for use in Australian and New Zealand government systems.

The certification was carried out via The Australasian Information Security Evaluation Program (AISEP), after which Pointsec became the only IT security vendor with a mobile data protection solution certified to Common Criteria EAL4.

"Pointsec is immensely pleased to be approved by DSD and as the only vendor globally with a hard disk encryption solution certified according to Common Criteria EAL4" said Oscar Morén, managing director for Pointsec Australia. "This certification has been the product of a long and rigorous process, and gives Pointsec for PC the national standing necessary to meet the needs of both Australian and New Zealand governments and the most demanding multi-national companies, including finance, securities, and pharmaceuticals."

Pointsec is already in use at many government agencies throughout Australia and New Zealand, and according to the company, the DSD approval is likely to see more agencies and departments deploy it on their mobile and desktop systems.
