Novell gets testy in Australia

Feb 25, 2005: Novell and distributor Avnet Partner Solutions have teamed up to introduce the first Novell Authorised Testing Centre (NATC) in Australia, which will enable Novell partners to have their applications fully certified to run on Novell’s SUSE Linux platform.

Under the exclusive agreement, Avnet will work with Novell partners to validate that their systems, drivers, storage products, network products and applications meet specific performance requirements in order to gain certification.

Ian Jackson, general manager, Australasian sales at Novell said several ISV’s and IHV’s are poised to start testing of their solutions at the NATC, including Fusionware, VisionGateway, MBS, and Bakbone Software.

“The NATC represents a significant investment for Novell and sends a strong signal to our partners that we are putting the appropriate building blocks in place to give them confidence to run enterprise-class applications on a SUSE Linux platform."

Colin McKenna, managing director, Avnet Partner Solutions Australia added: “Moving forward, our valued partner community of over 400 partners will be able to access the NATC on a regular basis and will have the knowledge and skill sets available to them to ensure that they are meeting the demand for Linux in the Australian market.

"Our valued partners will also have access to state of the art infrastructure from our vendor partners IBM and HP in the NATC. This will allow us to create an ecosystem of partners that are focused on driving solutions to the Australian market."

The NATC is located at the Avnet Partner Solutions Sydney premises in Gladesville. Other NATC centres will be launched throughout Asia in the coming months.
