Hitachi and IPStor unite to tackle data pile-up

Hitachi Information Technology and FalconStor Software have agreed to work together on future businesses in an effort to unite the storage management of enormous quantities of data that are flooding organisations.

Both companies have signed a letter of intent, which will mean that the FalconStor flagship product, IPStor, could be united with Hitachi IT's network integration expertise.

Imai Yasuhiro, the Hitachi IT system solution GM and board director, said: "From management of storage in its physical and logical form, IPStor maintains data availability and access, offering a solution addressing existing storage such as NAS and SAN.

"For the customer, it means proven data availability and the convenience of centralised storage management."

Alex Jiang, the FalconStor vice president of sales and marketing for Asia Pacific, added: "A storage software solution that utilises a company's existing network storage architecture is an important element to maximise return on investment.

"The network and security technology offered by Hitachi IT makes for a compelling and powerful solution when combined with IPStor."

Some of the advantages of IPStor include its ability to manage backup and recovery and ease the addition and management of the disk and server.

Noboru Aoki, the sales vice president and director of FalconStor Japan talked about the value of joining up with Hitachi IT: "Hitachi IT is well known for its development of new technology, especially relating to networking, and this relationship will allows the chance to immediately capitalise on new market opportunities."
