Companies unite to boost online data recovery

Oct 7th, 2004: XOsoft and AmeriVault, the provider of online data protection services, have joined forces to offer a new data recovery service that will allow organisation to continuously replicate data to a mobile computer whenever there is an outrage.

AmeriVault will immediately incorporate XOsoft's WANSync and WANSyncHA solutions into its mobile HOTBOX recovery solution and will begin hosting an online high availability solution by the end of the year.

AmeriVault is well respected for providing immediate data recoverability and cost-effective data insurance in the case of human or system failure, virus, or disaster. It ensures data restoration can be accomplished within seconds or minutes from an internal or remote desktop, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Tom O'Connell, XOsoft's vice president of sales, said: "Service providers such as AmeriVault deliver offsite storage and data backup services to customers that do not maintain in-house IT infrastructure, or possess limited IT resources.

"XOsoft has been placing increased focus on partnering with service providers in this space, to allow them to offer their customers a truly comprehensive application availability solution."

Kevin Harris, vice president and CTO at AmeriVault, added: "We were looking for a solution that would enable us to merge our leading services with best-of-breed application availability. We spent a couple of months in the labs evaluating a number of major file and application high-availability products.

"During this evaluation, we realised that XOsoft's WANSync application availability platform simply performed better than others. Aside from high performance, we were impressed with WANSync's intuitive user interface, versatile reporting capabilities and sophisticated application awareness."

With WANSync, if a server falls prey to unexpected failure or is brought down for maintenance, a synchronised replica can be brought online to maintain seamless application availability.
