Dell adapters called back after fire scare

4.4 million Dell AC adapters have been called back world wide after fears were sparked that these adapters could pose a risk of fire or electrical shock if they were overheated.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission initiated the voluntary call back of the Dell Latitude, Dell Precision and Dell Inspiron notebook-style personal computers.

The adapters were sold separately to the computers and were shipped out to customers between September 1998 and February 2002.

The words "DELL" and "P/N 9364U", "P/N 7832D" or "P/N 4983D" are printed on the back of the adapters.

Customers have been advised to visit this website to check if their adapter is affected:www.delladapterprogram.com.
