Verari integrates blades with iSCSI

Oct 12th, 2004: Verari Systems has released PUREcluster ipSAN, its first ISCI product, to combine a powerful storage server with automated virtualisation software features, and disk capacity into a single pool of shared storage.

The intelligent storage virtualisation of the PUREcluster ipSAN system automates previously manual tasks, providing unprecedented simplicity in scaling both performance and capacity for rapidly growing data and digital content.

The simplified storage administration allows automated snapshots to be seen, it can be applied remotely, and additional capacity and performance can be added on a modular pay as you grow basis.

Verari claim that PUREcluster ipSAN provides the advantages of a SAN without the complexities and cost of a fibre channel.

David Driggers, the CEO of Verari Systems, said: "Many of our enterprise customers are facing data storage requirements that are fast exceeding their existing storage capacity and they are looking for cost effective alternatives to existing networking paradigms.

"In the past, high equipment and operations costs associated with fibre channel storage networking technologies have put SANs beyond the budget of many datacentre cluster-computing environments. With the PUREcluster ipSAN, Verari Systems addresses the total cost of ownership equation."

Each PUREcluster ipSAN can contain up to 4TB of storage with a powerful RAID controller, processors, memory, and networking, all in a compact 3U rack mountable system.

Ultimately, it combines and integrates the world of server blades and iSCSI.
