IBM Optimises Digital Media Storage

April 14, 2008: Using its October 2007 acquisition of NovusCG as a platform, IBM has released new storage optimisation services tailored with the media and entertainment industry in mind.

Called IBM Management Complexity Factor (MCF) for Media, the services include media industry-specific methodologies and a toolset designed to improve digital media storage.

IBM says MCF for Media evaluates a firm’s media storage environment and produces a custom improvement plan covering hardware, software, processes and standards.

“Media companies are facing a double-edged sword with the exponential rise in digital media storage needs, coupled with concerns about optimising storage to be more efficient,” said Steve Canepa, vice president of Media and Entertainment, IBM.

“By quickly and cost-effectively analysing the interconnected IT and storage environments that increasingly comprise media operations, MCF for Media helps our clients identify opportunities for improvement.”
