Autonomy Unveils Understanding Software

By Greg McNevin

April 16, 2008: Infrastructure software specialist Autonomy has introduced automated real-time policy management software for IT, legal, and compliance purposes that it says is the first of its kind due to its ability to understand the information it is managing.

Autonomy claims Information Governance is the industry’s first information governance platform that automates policy management based on the formation of a conceptual and contextual understanding of enterprise information.

The company says this unique capability is a major step forward in reducing the risks inherent in information by applying policy based on understanding what an email, document or phone recording says instead of relying solely on its metadata.

In an environment of ever-increasing regulatory pressure companies are being forced to consistently implement information policies for finding, holding and disposing of information according to strict information lifecycles.

Autonomy says its software gives organisations more arrows in their quivers to effectively and efficiently deal with regulatory requirements.
