Aussie company boosts Malaysia's knowledge economy

Perth based company, Optimiser, has become the first digital management company to be involved with Malaysia' Multimedia Super Corridor, which aims to support Malaysia's drive towards becoming a knowledge economy.

Optimiser has created the first Digital Management service engine to support authoritative metadata frameworks and will base its Asian R&D and marketing operations in Malaysia's bastion cyber city, Cyberjaya.

Leo Mullions, Optimiser's CEO, talked about how he expects this move will improve the sales of Digital Management solutions worldwide.

"Digital Management will be pivotal to the continuing convergence of the various ICT industries. More importantly, it will be a cornerstone for bridging the current gap in online trading interfaces between the intangible world of digital assets and the unmanaged, often pirated, delivery of digital products and services.

"We believe the Multimedia Development Corporation has shown great foresight in recognising the importance of Digital Management as a discipline and strategic solution area in its own right.

"Our new Cyberjaya operations will be a centre-of-excellence for leading-edge Digital Management research and refinement."

Optimiser's authoritative metadata engine allows digital assets to be continuously and dynamically tracked and controlled anywhere at any time.

These engines are believed to be the future backbone of electronic trading systems by the World Intellectual Property Organisation and the European Commission.

Dr. Wilson Tay, vice president of the Multimedia Development Corporation, the Cyberjaya-based organisation entrusted by the Malaysian government to oversee Malaysia's Multimedia Super Corridor project, said. "The strategic vision of the MSC and MDC for the continuing success of Malaysia's economy is, in a word, knowledge. We are therefore in the business of making and identifying technologies that will give rise to the superstructure of tomorrow's trading and commercial systems.

"Optimiser shares our vision and we are pleased to welcome it, as the first company concentrating on Digital Management, to the Cyberjaya community and the MSC Technopreneur Development Flagship initiative."
