EMC Acquires Infra

March 11, 2008: EMC is keeping its acquisition arms strong with the announcement that it has picked up the IT service management software provider, Infra.

Infra provides a Web-based, IT Infrastructure Library-verified solution that automates enterprise IT Service Management processes. EMC says that Ifra’s service desk, with its ability to manage the full lifecycle of IT services, complements its automated discovery, analytics, native dependency mapping and model-based approach to service management.

EMC says the deal is aimed at further solidifying its “Closed Loop Service Orchestration” strategy, designed to automate data centre operations and return visibility and control to IT management.

“With the introduction of virtualisation and web-based technologies, our customers are looking for a dynamic IT service environment that can keep pace with this rapid rate of change and growing complexity,” says Chris Gahagan, EMC's Senior Vice President, Resource Management Software.

“The combination of Infra's service management and EMC's existing infrastructure management capabilities delivers practical and innovative solutions for today's IT service delivery challenges.”
