PwC and Similarity in data management alliance
PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) has teamed up with data quality management software vendor Similarity Systems to help its clients in Australia and the Pacific Rim to increase the accuracy and reliability of their enterprise-wide data assets.
PwCs' Data Management Group provides data quality methodologies that help large organisations to improve the integrity of information and reach their objective for more efficient, accurate and reliable business and operational processes.
Similarity Systems' Athanor suite of data quality management products enables organisations to rapidly identify and correct data quality issues. Together, the companies will provide a data quality solution and methodology that enables organisations to improve the quality of data captured and used in key business applications.
"Data quality is a business issue - every organization relies on its data to produce information for business decision-making," said Willie Jordaan, Partner, PwC. "Similarity Systems' Athanor provides a revolutionary approach to data discovery and cleansing that enables business users to maintain control of the data quality process from planning to implementation."
"Information-intensive business applications such as CRM, business intelligence and ERP will only succeed if the data they use is reliable, accurate and consistent," said Garry Moroney, CEO Similarity Systems. "Achieving the high levels of data quality needed for these applications to succeed is more than a once-off exercise."
Data quality and integrity is fast becoming recognised as one of the fundamental business issues of the decade. Poor data quality is a serious threat to any organisation's competitiveness. In a global survey carried out by PwC 75 percent of respondents reported significant problems and losses as a result of defective data. At the same time the survey found that significant benefits could be achieved from effective data quality management.
Under the terms of the partnership agreement, PwC will provide professional services and Athanor implementation expertise in Australia. The organisation has already trained a number of consultants in its Data Management Group as Athanor product experts and is working with a range of clients to solve their data quality issues.
