Alphawest secures IM contract with Victorian DoJ
Australian systems integration specialists Alphawest has won a contract to provide the Victorian Department of Justice with an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS), a key component of the Department's overall knowledge management strategy.
"This win confirms our position as the leading provider of Information Management solutions to Government in Australia," says Mark Towers, national manager for information management at Alphawest.
As well as enabling the creation, capture and management of corporate knowledge, the EDMS will help the DoJ achieve Victorian Electronic Records Strategy (VERS) compliance, as outlined by the Victorian Government.
"One of the (DoJ's) evaluation criteria during the (tender) process was that we could help them achieve VERS compliance. From an Alphawest perspective, we saw this (deal) as being really important to us, and follows on from the work that we've done with other Victorian Government agencies."
The Alphawest system for the DoJ is based upon Tower Software's TRIM Context product, an electronic document and records management solution that is commonly used within Australian Government organisations.
Department of Justice spokesman Hamish Walker commented: "Alphawest was chosen primarily on its ability to deliver the best and most cost-effective solution for the Department. Their solution and proven track record in working with Government organisations to implement Electronic Document & Records Management Systems is impressive."
"Alphawest’s past experience and knowledge of Government business and experience implementing a VERS compliant solution presented us with an opportunity to achieve our desired outcomes within a low risk environment."
The DoJ is looking to deploy the system to its business areas over the coming months, and ultimately roll it out through the whole Department.
