Open Text announces support for Adobe applications

Knowledge management software provider Open Text has introduced new features into its Livelink collaboration and knowledge management software that provide support for Adobe's Acrobat 6.0 software and the Adobe PDF technology.

The new Livelink features will help businesses using Adobe solutions to integrate documents across business processes and throughout the lifecycle of critical documents.

The support of Adobe's PDF helps companies manage the creation, collaboration and use of important documents in order to meet regulatory and security requirements in various industries, particularly in areas such as legal, health and pharmaceuticals.

Bill Forquer, senior vice president of business development at Open Text, says the emphasis of support for such applications is particularly timely.

"With growing regulation over the management of electronic information, the handling of critical legal and regulatory documents has become a major area of risk for many companies. Customers want to reduce that risk by using a reliable format for documents, combined with uniform, defined processes that extend throughout the enterprise and which control how each document is handled. The capabilities we're delivering with Adobe offer customers immediate ROI by combining the process and document controls needed for regulatory compliance with the flexibility that allows people to collaborate effectively on documents."
