Microsoft calls on MSN for new boss

Steve Vamos, the chief executive of the ninemsn Internet portal will take over the helm of Microsoft Australia.

Mr Vamos will become managing director of the Australian branch office as of February 1, 2003. He will remain in association with ninemsn as a Board member.

Paul Houghton, the current managing director will return to the USA.

"I'm really looking forward to joining Microsoft. Additionally I'm pleased to be able to continue my involvement with ninemsn as a Board member," said Mr Vamos in a statement. His appointment at Microsoft follows a career that has seen him operate in senior positions at Apple and IBM.
