GIO goes paperless

GIO insurance has announced that it is moving its workers compensation operation towards a paperless environment with the adoption of Tower Technology's IDM document management system.

Workers in GIO's workers compensation operation will use the IDM system in an effort to improve efficiency and customer service. GIO said it selected Tower for its ability to deliver IDM in a short time frame.

IDM will be used by GIO to capture all incoming documents whether they are paper, email, fax or existing files. The electronic documents will be delivered to the desktop PCs of the workforce in the Workers Compensation Policy Services and Claims department.

"We wanted to improve productivity via the management of large volumes of paper, ultimately reducing errors and expediting document workflow through the claims process," said Chris Wallace, the general manager of GIO's workers compensation unit in a statement.

Four GIO sites across Australia will use the system, three in New South Wales; in Sydney, Newcastle and Parramatta, and one in Perth. Over 530 workers are expected to be using the IDM system and more will be added soon.
