Vendors join for Web app package
Cap Gemini Ernst & Young has joined with Documentum, Plumtree Software and Oblix to create an integrated package of technologies for rapid Web application deployment.
The package, called Enterprise Web, brings together the implementation services of Cap Gemini Ernst & Young (CGE&Y), which has over 2,000 employees on its books in the Asia Pacific region, with the software provided by the other three companies.
Documentum contributes its Documentum 5 content management applications to Enterprise Web, Oblix adds tools for identity management and secure Web access, and Plumtree includes its enterprise portal software to provide a single interface for end users, according to the companies.
The four companies called the Enterprise Web concept an "open vision", and did not rule out integrating software from other companies into the blueprint. Users who wish to integrate other software can instruct CGE&Y to use Documentum's Portal Integration Pack and Plumtree's Gadget Web Services and Crawler Web Services applets to incorporate functions from outside the Enterprise Web set into their installed system, the companies said.
Oblix, which was already a partner of Plumtree, had already worked with Plumtree to integrate the former's NetPoint identity-based security application with the latter's portal interface. Administrators of Enterprise Web deployments can apply role-based access to users of the portal infrastructure, according to the companies.
CGE&Y, which had also previously worked with Plumtree, will use its existing Accelerated Solutions Environment methodology to implement projects with the Enterprise Web blueprint.
