Iron Mountain Opens Local Backup Service
February 25, 2008: Iron Mountain has announced that its Connected Backup for PC and LiveVault server backup solutions are now available in Australia thanks to a new locally-operated data centre in Sydney.
The company has commenced talks with Australian partners who will launch co-branded services directly to customers with its technology and the local data centre on the back end.
“We've had a growing demand from our customers worldwide for data protection solutions and services,” says Dave Kubick, Vice President of Worldwide Alliances for Iron Mountain Digital, the technology arm of Iron Mountain.
“So in addition to offering our data protection services directly, we will continue to rely on the strength of our channel partner program for extending the availability of our Storage-as-a-Service offerings in Australia as well.”
Iron Mountain’s distributed data protection solutions are aimed at both enterprises and smaller companies who need automated back up and recover of server and PC data. For enterprises, the company says its Connected Backup for PC solution virtually eliminates the risk of data loss by automatically backing up desktop and laptop computers while they are in use.
LiveVault server backup on the other hand is a server data protection solution for small and medium businesses, as well as remote offices and sites which promises to radically simplify the protection of file, database, application and Microsoft Exchange servers and eliminate tape backup altogether.
“With the launch of the Australian data centre, we can offer these services directly to businesses and through a network of regional channel partners,” said Ian Hollow, Iron Mountain's Managing Director, Australasia.
“This data centre not only improves performance and allows local shipment of large amounts of data, but also provides our customers peace of mind that their data is stored and protected within Australian borders.”
