SanDisk USB Flash Drive with Online Backup

SanDisk USB Flash Drive with Online Backup

January 3, 2008: SanDisk have announced the release of the Cruzer Titanium Plus, a four gigabyte (GB) flash drive that comes with a 6 month subscription to their online backup service.

The Cruzer Titanium Plus will be shown off at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from January 7, the main feature of the drive being the ability to back up all of your files online, so you’re protected from losing the drive.

When you consider how easily USB flash drives are to lose, this may become a common feature in the highly competitive removable storage market.

“This is true ‘set it and forget it’ data protection. Many users have told us they worry about losing their data, and now SanDisk is reducing that anxiety through an innovative new form of online backup,” said Hezy Rotman, vice president and general manager of SanDisk’s USB Division.

The online backup service that comes with the drive is powered by BeInSync who use Amazon web services for their online storage offerings. The online backup requires Windows 2000, XP or Vista and costs US $29.99 (AU $33.98) per year after that, the drive itself retails for US $59.99 (AU $67.99).

The Titanium Plus is currently slated for a US-only release in March, so the rest of the world will have to wait and see if they will be getting a local release or fork out the dollars for international shipping.
