Dell Picks Networked Storage for Christmas

By Greg McNevin

December 27, 2007: With Christmas just gone and the new year approaching, it appears that many firms are hard at work despite the holidays, with Dell another of several IT heavyweights announcing acquisitions in the final days of 2007, in this case the data storage consultancy The Networked Storage Company.

Based in Epsom in the United Kingdom, The Networked Storage Company (TNWSC) specialises in “transitioning customers to proven, simplified and cost-efficient IT data storage solutions” via its unique Point of Proof methodology.

According to the firm, this is an auditable end-to-end process that evaluates, selects and implements proven solutions that deliver robust, simplified and cost-effective IT infrastructures.

The company says that its approach is primarily implemented with storage networks, but can be extended across entire IT environments, reducing the overall cost and complexity of IT infrastructure maintenance and management.

“The Networked Storage Company has an extremely talented team that has developed an industry-leading approach enabling customers to simplify and validate their IT infrastructures,” said Stephen Murdoch, vice president, Global Infrastructure Consulting Services, Dell. “We plan to incorporate their expertise and world-class methodologies as part of our consulting offerings and scale globally.”

Terms were not disclosed and the purchase will not be final until all closing conditions are met.
