Squiz.net Announces CMS Study by Butler Group

November 4, 2008: Sydney-based open source content management system (CMS) developer Squiz.net has announced the availability of a new, free, independent open source CMS review from the analysts at the Butler Group.

The new report assesses the system behind leading web sites such as Boots, Oxford University, and the Australian Federal Government, and according to Squiz, delivers a review describing the guts of its MySource Matrix.

Overall, Butler thinks that Squiz’s enterprise-class open source CMS is a good option for "organisations with a high volume publishing requirement such as publishing companies, media, universities, government bodies, charities, and travel firms."

Butler’s says that web content management "is the type of market where commercial open source solutions are making inroads, particularly in the mid-range enterprise segment.”

It adds that there are a high number of open source WCM solutions, making the sector a competitive one where vendors attempt to differentiate themselves through the implementation and support services that they offer, and by fostering a vibrant open source community that contributes code to the product.

The report is available for download from today.
