Super Talent Releases Enterprise SSDs

December 15, 2008: Flash and DRAM storage manufacturer Super Talent has announced that it has released a new line of Solid State Disks (SSDs), claiming that the new UltraDrives are twice as fast as the world’s fastest SATA hard drives.

With capacities up to 256GB, the company says the 2.5-inch UltraDrive LE SSDs are designed specifically for enterprise servers and data centres where performance, reliability and endurance are paramount.

It says that the new line supports very high transaction speeds (IOPS), and supports sequential read/write speeds of 230/170 MB per second. It claims that the drives outperforming 10,000 RPM magnetic hard drives, use significantly less power and generate less heat.

“The UltraDrive LE represents a quantum leap forward in storage performance that is simply staggering,” claims Super Talent Chief Operating Officer, C.H. Lee. “It excels in every metric that’s relevant to data centres: sequential and random read and write speeds, transaction rates and access and seek times. It also has a considerable advantage over 10,000 RPM hard drives in power consumption and mean time before failure.”

The company has also announced a line of SSDs called the UltraDrive ME for notebooks, saying they are the fastest available internal storage solution for SATA-II notebooks, with sequential read/write speeds up to 200/160 MB per second.
