CES to Feature Windows 7 Beta Release?
December 30, 2008: Microsoft has been tipped to release its Windows 7 beta at January’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, giving the public the first look at what Vista’s successor has to offer.
That is of course, assuming it hasn’t been downloaded and given a test run already, as the new OS has already leaked onto BitTorrent networks around the world following the release of code to developers at Microsoft’s Professional Developers Conference in Los Angeles in October.
Reports of performance are starting to filter out, and so far Windows 7 has been given a tentative thumbs up, with reviewers claiming it boasts significant speed improvements and excellent stability despite being a test build.
Windows 7 is currently slated for a 2010 release, however, considering Windows Vista landed with a thud some commentators are predicting that Microsoft will bring the new OS’s release date forward to late 2009, enabling those intent on skipping Vista upgrades altogether to do so.
