2009 WAITTA Finalists Announced

January 22, 2009: The finalists for this year’s 18th Annual Western Australian IT and Telecommunications Industry Awards (WAITTA) have been announced, with companies such as iiNet Limited, Elk Software Group and and ITC Global among others in the running.

Dubbed “The Best of the West”, the awards showcase innovation and talent in the WA IT and telecommunications industry, and seek to draw attention the strength of WA’s contribution to the worldwide industry.

Finalists range from small to large organisations with projects developed and managed by students through to long standing professionals in the field. They include inspiring projects and improvements in areas such as; visual analysis with 3D graphics; processing geological and production data on subsurface variables; global access to your office network and capabilities; enterprise management software solutions; Schools Online Curriculum Services and Virtual medical centre just to name a few.

This year’s finalists include:

  • Exporter: Elk Software Group, Fundi Software Pty Ltd, ITC Global and True North International Pty Ltd.
  • Infrastructure: City of Stirling and Westnet.
  • Innovation: Edith Cowan University (ECU), ECU Centre for Communications Engineering Research, SOE Software Pty Ltd and Stochastic Simulation Limited.
  • Online: Department of Education and Training, Elk Software Group, Landgate and Virtual Medical Centre.com Ltd.
  • Product: Elk Software Group, Fundi Software Pty Ltd, SOE Software Pty Ltd and Snowden Technologies.
  • Regional: UWA Centre for Software Practice.
  • Service Delivery and Training: iiNet Limited and True North International Pty Ltd.
  • Student Project: Curtin University and Netlink Group, ECU South West and UWA.
  • Telecommunications: Department of Education and Training and ITC Global.

Winners of the 18th WAITTA will be announced at one of Australia’s most prestigious IT and Telecommunications Awards ceremonies on Friday 13th March 2009 at the Burswood Resort Convention Centre.
