IBA Health leaps into S&P/ASX 200

March 9, 2009: Sydney-based IBA Health, a world leader in electronic medical records systems, has shrugged off the economic gloom by announcing its elevation to the S&P/ASX 200.

Now grouped among the most prestigious Australian listed companies, IBA Health is a leading supplier of e-health network solutions in 35 countries, and is a key supplier to the UK National Health Services’ AU$30bn electronic records and IT program.

Some recent wins for IBA companies include its iSOFT business in Spain which has won contracts totalling $5.79 million (€3.01million) with two regional healthcare services.

In a deal worth $5.08 million (€2.64 million), which will be booked over the life of the contract, iSOFT will develop clinical and patient management systems for one of Spain’s most important autonomous communities (regional governments).

iSOFT’s contract, which includes patient administration, theatres, electronic prescriptions and data warehousing systems and integration services, covers the initial two years of the project.

The iSOFT European business has also signed contracts with two major hospital groups in the Netherlands totaling $17.6 million(€8.8 million).

In the largest deal, Erasmus MC (medical center) in Rotterdam has renewed its contract for iSOFT’s hospital information systems for a further five years. The $12.8 million (€6.4 million) contract includes licenses, maintenance and support. Erasmus MC is the university hospital of Rotterdam and the country’s largest medical school with 1,500 students.

Hospital Diaconessenhuis Leiden, a major teaching hospital in Leiden, has also renewed its contract for iSOFT’s hospital information systems and support in a three-year agreement worth $4.8 million (€2.4 million). During the contract period, Hospital Diaconessenhuis Leiden will work with iSOFT to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of patients’ treatment.German hospital group, Krankenhaus Buchholz and Winsen, is set to become its latest iSOFT customer for LORENZO.

The project is in two phases and will culminate in the roll-out of LORENZO Clinicals at two hospitals at Buchholz and Winsen, south of Hamburg, which together provide 633 beds. A customer since 1994, Krankenhaus Buchholz and Winsen uses a range of iSOFT management and clinical applications, including ClinicCentre, LabCentre and BusinessCentre. iSOFT will also install its new iCS portal, eFA services and electronic patient record (EPR).

With iCS (iSOFT Collaboration Suite), Krankenhaus Buchholz and Winsen provides GPs access to hospital patient records using a standard web-browser. eFA, created as an electronic case record for sharing of patient data for integrated care purposes, has the potential to become the national standard in Germany. The applications are based on LORENZO technologies and provide a Microsoft .Net technology layer to underpin further developments in service oriented architecture (SOA).

Australian private hospital provider Healthscope Limited has agreed to implement iSOFT software at 38 Healthscope hospitals is in addition to a $14 million agreement in December 2007 for software licences and support services over seven years. The initial agreement included pilot implementations ofiSOFT’s web-based patient administration solution at two hospitals. Following the success of these pilots, implementation will start shortly atHealthscope’s remaining hospitals, including Knox Private Hospital in Victoria, Allamanda Private Hospital in Queensland and Mount Hospital in Western Australia.

The implementation services covered under the latest agreement include project management, software installation, system configuration, training, and migrating medical records and data from a range of legacy systems.

Healthscope, one of Australia’s largest private healthcare operators, owns or manages medical/surgical, rehabilitation and psychiatric hospitals. It also operates a leading pathology business with facilities in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia.
