Stepping up SharePoint classification and security

March 13, 2009: Titus Labs has launched three new product to provide enhanced classification and security solutions for SharePoint users.

A provider of email and document classification software, Titus Labs has over 100 military, government and enterprise customers worldwide including the Australian Department of Defence, NATO and the Multi National Forces Iraq.

The three new products are Titus Labs PDF Control for SharePoint, Titus Labs Document Marking for SharePoint and Titus Labs Office Converter for SharePoint.

"Our customers are deploying SharePoint to handle their most critical document and records management requirements," said Curt Kolcun, Vice President, Microsoft US Public Sector. "Information classification is an important step in the complete lifecycle of document and record management. Titus Labs' experience in information classification and document security is important for enterprise organizations that rely on SharePoint in mission-critical environments."

A key challenge faced by organisations using SharePoint is that employees often forget to add classification markings to documents, or that they already have thousands of existing documents in SharePoint. Titus Labs Document Marking for SharePoint is designed to overcome these issues by automatically adding labels to Office documents as they are added to the SharePoint library.

Furthermore, administrators can simply assign a label policy to documents in an existing document library. The new SharePoint product offerings serve to enhance existing SharePoint implementations by adding a new layer of document security and driving user awareness of how information should be handled.

Titus Labs Document Marking for SharePoint automatically applies classification labels and watermarks to existing and new Microsoft Office documents in order to raise the awareness of sensitive information and achieve compliance.

PDF Control automatically generates PDF versions of Office documents to facilitate sharing of information and to produce a document format appropriate for archiving.

Document Converter automatically converts Word, Excel, and PowerPoint documents in SharePoint to Office 2007, enabling standardisation on a single file format and minimising compatibility issues.

"As a provider of information classification solutions for the Microsoft Office platform over the past five years we have seen the large and growing acceptance of Microsoft SharePoint as a critical platform for managing information assets," said CharliePulfer , VP Product Management, Titus Labs. "Customers have a clear need for additional tools for classification and enhanced document security. Our new family of products for the SharePoint platform is designed to meet and exceed on these requirements."
