Data Robotics Introduces Automated SMB Storage
April 13, 2009: The UK’s Data Robotics has unveiled a new SMB storage system that it claims is the first with the ability to manage and repair itself.
Dubbed DroboPro and built on its BeyondRAID virtualised storage platform, the company says that the business-class storage array delivers a radically simplified storage experience that includes advanced self-monitoring and self-healing functionality.
Data Robotics says that this enables small and medium businesses (SMBs) to maintain uptime despite constant data growth, while providing enterprise-level business continuity features such as protection against multiple concurrent drive failures and no-downtime capacity expansion with thin provisioning.
The company also says that DroboPro provides the flexibility to replace failed disks, increase disk capacity, and switch between single and dual disk redundancy with one click and without downtime.
“At many businesses, IT managers are responsible for much more than just storage, let alone having to predict the future of their company’s business and dynamic storage needs,” said David Reinsel, group vice president, storage and semiconductors, at industry analyst firm IDC.
“A forward-thinking approach to flexible and highly available data storage, like Data Robotics’ DroboPro, not only should save IT managers capital and administrative costs, but also should provide them more time to focus on managing their front-end applications, such as Microsoft Small Business Server and Microsoft Exchange.”
