Logitech Acquire WiLife

November 9, 2007: IT consumer products provider, Logitech has announced a formal agreement to acquire video monitoring company WiLife for $US 24 million.

WiLife provides a cheaper alternative for small-mid sized businesses and residential users to monitor there premises with a wireless camera setup that works through your existing PC. More expensive alternates such as digital video recorders only work with an expensive additional PC that you have to buy from the provider, with each box often costing $3,500 or more.

“The acquisition of WiLife allows Logitech to offer yet another mainstream solution for more convenience and control in the digital home,” said Junien Labrousse, executive vice president of Logitech’s Products Group. “It provides an easy and affordable way to use a PC and video cameras to gain peace of mind when away from home. The WiLife business also complements our existing video business.” He said.

Labrousse expects the acquisition to tie in nicely with Logitech’s existing video imagery line, though the company has issued a statement that they don’t expect any immediate financial gain this quarter from the purchase
