Blackberry Gets Siebel CRM

Blackberry Gets Siebel CRM

November 12, 2007: Oracle has announced a new platform for its Siebel CRM Mobile service this week, delivering customer relationship management capabilities to BlackBerry handsets.

Oracle says Siebel CRM Mobile for the BlackBerry was created as a result of collaboration between Oracle and Research In Motion (RIM), and claims it provides secure mobile CRM functionality mirroring the simplicity of the BlackBerry email experience.

The company says the offering enables the most up-to-date CRM data to be accessed online or offline, and while enterprises can already wirelessly access Siebel CRM through the BlackBerry Browser, this new solution goes further by providing an additional level of integration with the BlackBerry platform to make CRM data available in real-time to the sales force, executives and field service engineers.

“BlackBerry smartphones are 'must-have' tools for millions of professionals in thousands of organisations around the world,” said Oracle Vice President of CRM Strategy Mike Betzer. “The new Siebel CRM Mobile couples the BlackBerry platform's renowned ease-of-use with the power of Siebel CRM applications for an unrivaled, on-premise CRM mobile solution.”

The BlackBerry has attracted the nickname “CrackBerry” due to its always-on email and messaging capabilities, and with an increasing amount of services making their way onto RIM’s handset it looks like it will hold that title for a while to come.
