Geoscience Searches With Funnelback

November 14, 2007: Geoscience Australia has announced it will soon pick up an enterprise search solution from Funnelback for information discoverability across its vast range of record repositories.

In a big win for Funnelback, Geoscience says enterprise search has become an expected piece of functionality for the staff at Geoscience.

“Its full scale implementation will achieve enhanced staff productivity and efficiency,” says Stuart Girvan, director, Enterprise Systems Section at Geoscience.

For Geoscience the increased access ability will improve processes and efficiencies around its core competencies, which include providing geoscientific information and knowledge for government and the community to make informed decisions regarding environmental management.

The federated search system from Funnelback will provide access across multiple information resources at Geoscience, including intranet and web content, staff database, library catalogue and images.

The search function will also filter through a TRIM electronic document management system provided by Tower Software where Funnelback has built at adaptor to crawl the content.

“It is particularly pleasing to see the Funnelback TRIM adaptor in production and making TRIM content more accessible to staff,” says Stuart Beil, Funnelback general manager.
