Navigating ECM with KnowledgeLake

KnowledgeLake Imaging Server for SharePoint offers seven integrated components that extend the SharePoint platform into a fully functional Enterprise Content Management system including document imaging.

One of the greatest pain points for anyone in business today is the amount of time it takes for people to process the many printed reports and correspondence, faxes, email messages, graphics, digital images, financial information and other data they encounter every day.

Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 is growing in popularity as a platform for addressing these needs through an integrated suite of server capabilities for enterprise search, content management, business process facilitation, simplified information sharing and enhanced business insight.

Introduced onto the Australian market in 2009, KnowledgeLake is a suite of desktop and server products including Capture and Connect for user capture of paper and electronic documents, and Imaging, Capture Server and Connect for search, viewing, network capture, batch processing and scalability.

KnowledgeLake delivers the ability to streamline processes, including batch management, statistics, audit trail, centralised scanning and auto-indexing capabilities such as OCR, barcode recognition, patch code recognition and separator pages.

KnowledgeLake also supports simple desktop scanning. Documents are scanned one at a time into a centralised repository and therefore immediately available to everyone in an organisation, instead of stored in local desktops or file systems.Tightly integrated with SharePoint, KnowledgeLake Capture lets end users scan and index documents, then store them in the appropriate SharePoint repository in TIFF, PDF and XPS file formats.

KnowledgeLake Capture has the familiar look and feel of Microsoft Office software, so users can work within the familiar ribbon bar and application menu of the Office user interface.

KnowledgeLake also offers a Capture Server to scan and save documents to SharePoint using office copiers, multi-function devices, fax servers and network scanners. A server based process path enables flexible document manipulation such as web based indexing, OCR and document conversion prior to release to SharePoint.

For content that is saved on an ad-hoc basis - such as PDF files and e-mail messages - KnowledgeLake Connect enables provides a way to easily and accurately index documents from any desktop application, and then save these documents to a SharePoint document library.

KnowledgeLake has recently incorporated a new technology into KnowledgeLake Connect that provides the ability to integrate desktop programs such as Web, Windows, Silverlight and WPF applications with KnowledgeLake Connect. This integration provides “one-click” scanning, indexing and searching from virtually any line of business application, such as Microsoft Dynamics. KnowledgeLake is being introduced to Australia by the Clayko Group, which has been implementing document imaging solutions and enterprise content management systems for Australian organisations since 1981.
