IBM Acquires NovusCG

October 29, 2007: In the land of acquisitions this week, IBM has announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to take over the US’s NovusCG, a privately held data storage specialist that will help boost its compliance offerings.

The acquisition follows IBM’s deal with Softek Storage Solutions earlier this year and will see Novus’ asset-based delivery model and proprietary tools integrated into IBM’s storage and data services, and its storage hardware and software solutions.

The company claims that once the merger is complete, its clients will benefit from improved access to business information, stronger regulatory and corporate compliance, and improved overall information technology performance.

IBM says that its clients are being challenged to use infrastructure more effectively and conserve energy, and according to Val Rahmani, general manager, Infrastructure Management Services at IBM Global Technology Services, the acquisition of Novus marks a turning point. “This provides what clients have been missing - the information that will allow them to align their IT and business strategies,” he said.

Novus will become part of the Storage and Data Services business unit in IBM Global Technology Services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
