BakBone Rolls out RHEL 5 Support

April 16, 2007: Archiving specialist BakBone has announced new protection solutions for Linux, with its NetVault Backup and Replicator now supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.

With these additions BakBone is claiming the broadest Linux capabilities in the storage management market, claiming that it supports more leading Linux distributions and applications than any other backup software vendor.

“While other vendors have promised RHEL 5 support, BakBone is the only data protection solution that currently supports RHEL 5,” said Jeff Drescher, director of product management at BakBone. “BakBone is committed to helping customers more easily embrace open source technologies and that includes timely and cost-effective data protection for Linux and multi-platform environments.”

The company says that Linux-based data protection solutions help businesses save dollars while keeping critical data available no matter what distribution is being used. Currently, BakBone's solutions are certified for over 50 different Linux distributions and versions on all platform architectures.

BakBone says NetVault: Backup provides enterprise-class data protection for complex heterogeneous environments, regardless of size, while NetVault: Replicator integrates easily wth it and delivers continuous, cross-platform data replication for multi-platform environments.
