Objective gains VERS 2.0 compliance certification from the PROV

April 24, 2007: Strap Objective Corporation today announced the Public Record Office of Victoria (PROV) has certified its enterprise content management solution, Objective 7, against the Victorian Electronic Record Strategy (VERS) Version 2 Specifications 1 and 2.

Developed by Public Record Office Victoria (PROV), VERS is a framework of standards, guidance, training, consultancy and implementation projects designed to ensure electronically archived records can be accessed and read at any point in the future, regardless of their origin, format or the software that created them. It is promoted globally and has been accepted and used by archival institutions, national and international Governments.

Objective says for Version 2 of VERS it is the only Australian vendor that is currently certified in both Specification 1 (System Requirements for Preserving Electronic Records) and Specification 2 (VERS Metadata Scheme).

The major opportunity in the coming years for Objective in meeting this specification will be South Australia’s public sector. State Records South Australian will be using VERS 2.0 as a proxy standard. Any Electronic Document and Records Management Systems (EDRMS) deployed in the South Australian public sector must be VERS 2.0 compliant by 2009.
