Speed record from Kodak

June 2, 2008: Kodak is showing higher-speed upgrades to its sheet-fed digital press range at drupa 2008, the printing event in Dusseldorf germany, including what it claims is the world’s fastest cut sheet black-and-white machine.

The Digimaster EX300 prints 300 A4 pages per minute and will be available next summer. Its speed pips Xerox’s 288ppm Nuvera 288 and the 250ppm Océ 6250.

Kodak said existing Digimaster machines will be field upgradable to the high-speed model, which is aimed at high-volume publishing, transactional, government and direct mail work.

Kodak also unveiled the S3600, a faster member of the NexPress family, which runs at 120 A4ppm. “Digital printing is exploding,” said Kodak GCG electrophotographic printing solution general manager Steve Fletcher.

In addition, the firm announced a new textured coating solution for the NexPress, which uses the press’ fifth imaging unit for raised, tactile effects.
