AXS-One Launches Data Migrator

By Greg McNevin

June 13, 2008: With a view to ease the switch between email platforms, AXS-One has introduced its news Dynamic Data Migrator saying that it enables enterprise to move between Lotus Notes/Domino to Microsoft Exchange – and vice-versa – with ease.

The company says the new solution opens up access to legacy e-mails created in previous environments without the need for expensive, time-consuming and risky data conversion procedures.

Original records remain unchanged and are retained with full fidelity. If and when messages are required in the new messaging environment (in order to reply to an e-mail, for instance), the message is dynamically converted to Exchange (or Notes) format, along with any attachments, links to applications, encryption (with available keys) and web links.

The software will be offered as an integrated component of AXS-One’s flagship Compliance Platform, and considering data conversion accounts for around one-third of migration costs, and the fact that legacy emails are available directly in whatever platform is in use, the company could be onto a winner.

“We expect that AXS-One’s solution will have a dramatic impact on the cost and time it takes our customers to migrate their Notes mail users to Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Office Outlook,” said Jim Bernardo, a Director of Microsoft's Enterprise and Partner Group.

“Because it enables users to have access to all their existing Notes mail from their new Outlook environment without needing to convert any of that mail from Notes to Exchange, we feel this solution has the potential to accelerate the rate at which users can be transitioned to the Exchange/Outlook environment.”
