New Updates for Cumulus, Dynagram and Helios

February 1st, 2007: DataBasics has announced a number of updates from Cumulus, Dynagram and Helios, with new features, support for new standards and metadata available for the trio.

According to DataBasics, Canto has recently issued a number of information datasheets on the file formats supported in the latest Cumulus 7. These include a chart on enhanced metadata support through filters and asset-stores and a list of RAW formats supported.

The number of file formats supported by Cumulus has been increased to over 190, including JPEG 2000, Flash 8 and a wide range of camera RAW formats. Cumulus 7.1 also now supports the metadata standards of Exchangeable Image File Format (EXIF), and XMP /IPTC.

Along with the Cumulus updates, Dynagram also has new tools available in the form of INposition 7 and inp02, imposition tools designed for QuarkXpress. DataBasics says that INposition 7.0 still offers all the same features, however, now they are seamlessly integrated to QuarkXPress 7.0. The company says that the software enables last-minute corrections to be made to documents while maintaining control over working file integrity. Features such as master creep, bleed, crossover and page adjustment are included in imposed documents.

Updates to Helios are also available now for all customers with a software service agreement. These can be downloaded off the Helios website and include the new "CheckRaster" option to enable the usage of layouts of vector EPS images in InDesign. The company says that with CheckRaster customers can use layouts without needing to handle file formats differently during image placement. For example, there is no need to distinguish between EPS and TIFF images.
