Managing Creative Workflows

December 5th, 2006: Process management and productivity software producer MetaCommunications has announced that it is increasingly deploying its Workflow 2006 software in graphic arts organisations.

The company started shipping Workgroups 2006 in September and claims that it is the only process automation and management solution on the market for collaborative workgroups in marketing, creative, publishing, prepress and printing.

“These environments share a common need to manage and automate the workflow processes in a collaborative manner during the design, production, and delivery of graphic content,” said Robert T. Long, Executive Vice President of MetaCommunications. “Workgroups 2006 is the only solution available today that can be used across the entire graphic arts supply chain.”

MetaCommunications says that Workgroups 2006 streamlines workflows and improves productivity and consists of four main components:

• Job Manager financial management tools to help creative and production workgroups create estimates and quotes, monitor job costs, generate on-demand reporting and invoices, and share information with other prominent accounting systems.





• Virtual Ticket, a configurable job ticketing solution that brings together all work components in a central location. These include project briefs, job tickets, customer information, associated document files, and more. Workflows and processes can be further automated from here.





• Approval Manager to managing, track, and schedule any approval process within and across creative and production environments.





• And Digital Storage Manager to manage data storage for creative, publishing and prepress workgroups using multiple file servers, near-line storage, and offline media.

MetaCommunications says that by combining these four modules in a single suite it helps organisations encourage collaboration, automate processes, centralise information, manage workflows and measure key financial and productivity metrics. Workgroups 2006 is distributed in Australia by Databasics.
