USYD Taps Search Through ISYS

December 12, 2006: The Secretariat at the University of Sydney has adopted desktop search technology to meet its information access needs.

Covering 15 years worth of information, the University has taken on ISYS Search Software to trawl through its endless amount of agendas, reports and minutes of the University’s governing and academic bodies.

For the staff at the University, the software is not just about speed of access. The system also harnesses contextual capabilities, including automatic categorisation and entity extraction. The software is particularly handy for pulling out quick answers to queries posed by senior management.

Megan Kemmis, executive officer to the academic board, University of Sydney, says the product was highly recommended when staff originally commenced the hunt for a search solution. “We are extremely pleased with ISYS’s ability to help our staff quickly and consistently pinpoint the information they need most.”

ISYS says their desktop product provides organisations with the tools they need for sophisticated search, navigation and discovery. Their key features include on-the-fly categorisation and enterprise-class performance and flexibility.
