Ranger Mine Draws on DV TDM For Data Management

September 22, 2006: The Ranger mine in the Northern Territory will this month commence management of over 23,000 technical reports through DV TDM

Operated by Energy Resources of Australia (ERA,) the Ranger mine required management software to assist staff personnel in the smooth and immediate 24/7 access of engineering documentation.

Engineering drawings, equipment data sheets and specifications as well as other supporting documentation are often subject to modification daily by Ranger mine staff. Without correct and quick access to relevant document during maintenance work, the mine could be subject to equipment damage and engineering faults.

During a risk assessment of the mine in late 2003, ERA realised the potential for equipment and systems damage through incorrect access and storage of documentation. It was then determined many of the mine’s manual document storage processes would be digitalised to assist in reducing risk.

With efficient document retrieval and control in mind, all relevant materials were scanned in to digital format and the move to advanced drawing management software determine.

ERA choose to upgrade it’s minimal use of Practical Program’s Dv TDM software solution earlier this year. The solution will now be deployed through web technology and readily available to all Ranger mine staff.
