WA Government’s ECM Spend

WA Government’s ECM Spend

July, 3rd 2006:Unisys has signed a three-year contract with The Western Australian Department for Community Development. Unisys will provide new client information solution, Assist, to improve record management.

The solution, which will be implemented across the department’s 84 offices in three phases, will see the integration of several commercial products including Oracle’s PeopleSoft Enterprise CRM (Customer Relationship Management) suite and Objective’s ECM (Enterprise Content Management) suite. This will provide a single integrated system. According to the department’s Executive Director, Judy Hogben, “The new system will allow the department and interrelated agencies to share information more efficiently”.

The new solution means that the department’s staff and other agencies will be working together at a truly state level in terms of information access. Currently information is in several systems and hard files across the department. “For example, the department’s 24-hour Crisis Care Unit staff will be able to immediately perform a person search and get a ‘single view’ of the client showing the client’s full electronic file history,” says Hogben.

Chief Executive Officer of Unisys West, Peter Price says “We’re looking forward to working with the department to help implement the Assist client information system.” He further added that, “Unisys West has a successful record working with the West Australian Government – in education, justice, land, corrective services and elsewhere”. The contract between the Department and Unisys West has an option to extend a further two years.
