Microsoft Buys Into Digital Asset Management

Microsoft's Digital Asset Management Interest

June 30, 2006: DAM picks up pace as Seattle's giant bypasses the development route and purchases UK-based iView.

The growth in use of digital assets, including still and moving images as well as audio files, has paid off for British company iView. The company makes DAM tools such as iView Pro, providing the ability to catalogue and manage images through a searchable repository.

Originally developed for the Apple Macintosh, iView Catalog (sic) Reader allows users to distribute and share iView catalogs with anyone on the Macintosh or Windows platform at no cost or restriction.

Despite its Mac heritage, and the fact that it still develops predominantly for the that platform, plans are obviously underway for a more fully developed Windows version.
