Kodak Clicks in the Scanner Market

May 29, 2006: Eastman Kodak Company has launched four new scanner models – KODAK i1210 and i1220 Series Scanners for the workgroup segment and the KODAK i1310 and i1320 Series Scanners for the departmental segment.

As the volume of business documents increases and compliance issues place document management under added scrutiny, document scanning has become an integral part of corporate environment. “For businesses, government agencies and organizations looking to streamline their paper workloads, these (Kodak) scanners are indeed, powerful tools for the office,” says Erwin Schwarzl, GM – Document Imaging, VP - Kodak’s Graphic Communications Group.

According to the company, each Kodak model will include enhanced ‘Perfect Page’ image processing technology for producing high-quality images with ease. The workgroup i1200 Series will reportedly capture images at up to 30 pages or 60 images per minute. The departmental i1300 Series claims to offer a maximum speed of 60 pages or 120 images pages per minute – the fastest speed in this category.

The scanner software is said to include SCANSOFT PAPERPORT and SCANSOFT OMNIPAGE Software from Nuance and KODAK Capture Software, Lite. These promise to provide users with a choice of applications to create, manage, share document images, convert images to documents using optical character recognition (OCR) and process complex document batches with batch capture capabilities.

From wallet-sized plastic ID cards to long length credit applications, loans and medical monitoring strip – both series guarantee to scan a wide range of documents.
